Local non-profits

I stumbled into ceramics as an outlet and a hobby, but I wish I was introduced to the arts and trades as careers growing up. All the funds from my inventory sales will go directly to Compton Girls Club and Lost Angels — two 501(c)3 nonprofits that are helping introduce youth to the arts and trades in LA. More DLC in your home helps more youth develop their craft. 🥰

Compton Girls Club

MISSION: Our mission is to provide girls from underserved communities access to resources, knowledge and skills that are not readily accessible to them in their own neighborhoods. We believe access to these skills will aid them in their journeys to becoming confident, assertive, and independent.

ABOUT: Girls are introduced to life skills through mentors and speakers of color.  It is important for the members to see themselves mirrored in the people that come to speak to them. We install curiosity in the girls by introducing new careers and hobbies that can be used as self-care activities or even potential ways to earn income. Mental health and emotional maturity is also an important aspect of being a thriving adult, so speakers and therapist will also be made available to the girls.

Lost Angels

MISSION: Lost Angels is committed to empowering distressed communities by actively creating opportunities to divert disadvantaged youth and young adults through innovative vocational training, creation of social enterprises and traditional outreach programs.

ABOUT: Our industrial manufacturing training and job placement program focus on teaching transition-age-youth hands-on skills through an intensive apprenticeship at our facility. The apprentices of this program go through a 12 week paid training course and learn everything they need to succeed in the workforce, from interpersonal and coping soft skills to hands-on fabrication practices. As we continue to develop more opportunities for disadvantaged youth we hope to see our community revitalized with hardworking productive members, not only empowered by education and training but employed and financially independent.
